A Novel Attitude towards Future Research in Religious Culture

Soheyla Miri

Abstract: Futures study is the art and science of exploring future and forming a favorable world. An important feature of this field is that it uses scientific tools in order to provide a picture matching values ruling the society, and planning in order to achieve a favorable society. Hence, sociologists consider futures study as a tool for social navigation. Islam not only expects an ideal society which has been reported to come true in history, but it also expects its own followers to strengthen their society and its facilities in order to realize the qualities of a favorable Islamic society in a perfectionist way, by being inspired by the features of the ideal society. With inspiration from Islamic lessons such as social traditions and the philosophy of wait, a certain type of futures study is extracted whose result is an exact picture of an ideal society. By looking at such a favorable future as a goal, it is possible to design and define probable futures as drivers of realizing the qualities of a society that is ready to come into existence.
